My experience in this English subject

To start, I really like this subject, but I'm not sure if is for my love to the language in general or the subject like itself. I think that the methods in the class works for practice the English, but not to learn more grammar. Is like a class about common expression in English and use more the language.

About the blogs, I think that work for the practice but I don’t if a learn some new, well in all the cases now I think more in English and is easier to talk and write in that language. Other things is about the blog is the correction; until now I don’t know what’s wrong with my writings, so I can’t learn with my mistakes.

After this subject I think I’ll need to read more books in English to know more words, I always need to look for a dictionary o ask somebody and that make difficult and restrict my expressions and sentences when I speak or write something. Other things I think I need to improve is to think in English in my head, until is very difficult to me don’t thinks the words in Spanish first and then translate to other language, I need to think faster and in English I think this subject help with that but I’m not good enough.

This days I’m using the English always when is possible, with friends and family I try to use expression in English or just talk in English to practice to think faster, Also I’m looking for books to read in English, I want to star with short stories, I read Tom sawyer and Huckleberry Finn in English when I was in the school, so I want to read something like that in the future to improve my vocabulary and then read more difficult books.

My future job

Hello everyone, today is the day to talk about a part of my future; My future job. Is very difficult to me to talk about myself, and most if a have to talk about my own future, but that doesn't means I don't have an idea about that, just I don't like it.
Well, I'm studying sociology here in the university so I pretend to work like a sociologist in the future for to fulfil my dream!, But I really don't know how to do that, I really like to study and analyze the society but no like a pollster or working for marketing or something like that, I like sociology like an investigation for the social change!
I talk about a dream that's to far yet, I don't know anything about the money or where, nothing, for that reason I couldn't talk about the why of my choice, The only purpose of my choice is my feeling of curiosity about the society.

Now, about my strength and weakness, in an interview, I don't I always have problems in this part of religion's works or self-esteem's test I never really respond, I just say that the other people want to hear. I'm responsible, punctual and very careful with important things, but I'm lazy and drowsy all the time too, and that have no sense.
In all the cases, I think I'll going to find a temporary work to live a couple of years before to work in something I really like, but that's no sad is just "the life in his highest expression".

That's all I can say today, I think I don't really say to much but that's life.

La Isla de las Flores

The society and the Human being are amazing topic to talk about, and today is the day to talk about how disgusting they are!. For that we'll see a short old documentary about a dumping site in Brazil. This video shows the human being how the animal who are, talking about him as we are aliens or something like that.

I want to stand out one of the first words in the beginning of the video: "Deus não existe", that means in Portuguese "God does not exists", but why those words to start a film?, because the video shows the different realities of the different peoples but remember us that we are all equals.

Is funny for the first minutes because is like a documentary about what is a human, what they do it, and how are they behavior. The video start with the world, then it shows a tomato's plantation to finish with the dumping site and the people how live worst than a pigs, but is not about how a pig live, is insane and inhumane how they must to look for their food in the garbage and more, in the garbage that the pigs don't want to!

I really like this video also because is a critic to the contemporary society, is a critic to the capitalism system and in general the human behavior using Brazil and "La isla de la flores" like an example of this.

In the beginning the film says this a is a fiction story, but that doesn't means is a lie or that isn't real, are people in a lot of countries who live in that way, and not much people try to do something to change the situation.

How green are you?

To be green is really important for the planet, I think that all the people need to be worried about the recycling methods and how to spend less time destroy the planet and more try to find ways to save it because is a common problem for all of us.

When I was TV sometimes is in emission some propaganda about the world and how to save the planet all together, the same happens in the street or the radio, but I'm sure that not all the people pay attention or to get the meaning . I think that happens because the propaganda is really bad, of course the people need to think for themselves but the announcement must to be more violent and to scold the people or all will be affected.

Anyway I'm not the green personify in the earth but I try to re-use my bags or spend less artificial lights o having a vegetable garden, I'm sure that is not enough and for that reason I'm always looking for different options to recycle or something like that. For example I try to walk always if I can, or when I have the opportunity to use a bike I never reject that option.

I don't know any ecologist organization, but anyway I don't like that groups, I prefer to act in the better way thinking in all the people around and I say that to other people having hope in the change.

The Minotaur's myth!

One thing that fascinating me a lot are the Greek mythology, because when I was a child I only read books about the Gods and Demigods, the story about hero that fight against creatures just to amaze me.Today I'm going to talk about one of that myth, that's it "Teseo and the Minotaur", now why I choose this myth is because I liked of course, but also I read a really short history about the other side of this history, I mean the Minotaur's story

Obviously this isn't a Greek myth because it was written by Jose Luis Borges in his work "El Aleph" (1949), but is amazing how he invest the story and convert the Minotaur to the principal character, but in the same time Teseo is the redeemer of his life, Teseo kill him but is't the antagonist is just his liberator.

This Story is called "La casa de Asterión" in English "The House of Asterion", and, how I said before is the story about The Minotaur Asterion and is related like a monologue. Is the same Minotaur who talk about his personality, his life and house, also he talk about some young people who enter in his house and just die there (with this is prove his innocence). But he knows that someone one day is going to his house to set him free.

This person is Teseo, we already know the story about the wool and how Teseo cross the labyrinth, After that Teseo confront the Minotaur, who scarcely defended himself, that's because he knows that was his time to die.

Should UK children be 'bussed' to school in the name of diversity?

One of the most important problems that UK and US have is the racial, ethnic and class segregation in the schools. Too may methods are used to solve this problem, one of these are the strategy of taking poorer children to affluent school in UK, but this measure is "flawed" and the american-style's bussing is considering like a possible option.
But, like all the methods, this strategy has a problematic history in the US, for example in the moment of the implementation (1970s and 1980s) white parents resisted the integration of no-white children to white schools, and sometimes they targeting buses of black children with violence.
In US this problem has have a lot of changes, in 1980 with the President Reagan's Words overturned school desegregation some districts have abandoned integration efforts altogether. But in the 1990s American reformers prove that black and latino children have the same capacity to have good grade, so the desegregation has no excuses!.
Also a sociology Amy Stuart Wells of Columbia University demonstrated that all the children must to be with others cultures and families different from one's own.
In conclusion, exists a lot of methods for the integral segregation of no-white children, but the simple bussing or taking poor children to affluent school have demonstrated that in this society those strategy rarely works.

Movies!

Hello! Today I'm going to talk about one thing I really like, that's to watch movies. I have been watching movies since I was a 5 years old kid, but I start watching art film when I grow up and in a course about films and movies I learn a lot of things about directors, actors, and theory about how to film.
About any movement or vanguard that I like in specific, I love the strange ones and the mysterious ones, because I like to stay in the uncertainty. Movies like "Dark city", "Pulp Fiction" or "thirteenth floor" are my kind of films.

But that no meaning that I don't like the others, one of my favourites movies is La vita e' bella by 

Begini, and that's because that movie causes in me a feeling of lonely so strange that I can't explain.

Whatever, the last movie I saw was Kill Bill Vol.1 and 2 by Tarantino, I saw that movie because In that day I notice that Tarantino is the director of that movie and I really like him so I just sheared in internet and now is watched.
One of my dreams is being a director and to make films and shorts, but is an incomplete dream, that's not so bad because my little brother watch movies with me and I think he is going to study that so I'm more than ready to help him with my limited knowledge!

My best holidays

It's very difficult to write about my best holidays, that's because all the holidays I can remember are bad or boring, but I think I can talk about the first holidays I remember.
When I was a child, I think five years old or something like that, with my parents and brother travelled to Lota, Concepción in the summer's holidays. We always travelled there because my grandmother and uncles lived there so is very easy to find a place where sleep and stay.
I really don't remember too much about those holidays because many years passed, but the important and the best part of that trip was the possibility to know the beach and play with the sand and all when I just was a little kid!
We went to the beach all the days we stay there and all the days was beautiful and magnificent because I never saw before that holidays, I was a child and I remembered bigger and more violent but is a really good memory I think I'll never forget.
I have no virtual pictures of that trip, so I couldn't put any picture, but I hope you can imagine the beach and the feeling of to know it.

England! The country I'd like to visit

There is a country that I'd like to go for a while, It is England!, that's because I really want to learn about music and live the atmosphere of that place, I mean I'd like to live with an elegance hat and a watch in my pocket, and of course I really like the fog, the street and the cars of that place.
I'm not really informed about England, I know that the most of the bands that I listened are from there, also I have heard that is an expensive country and I don't have family there so I think that if I go to that place it will be difficult to live there.
If I will have the possibility of travel to that country, in fact I will visit all the museum and attractions (only if have the money, of course), and study Music because is one of my childhood dream or Sociology because I think I really like this career until now, but it depends by my age when I travel to there.

And that's all for now.

My first term in the university

In the last post I said that I'm a Sociology's student, well today I'm going to talk about my first term in the university. The first I can say is that was difficult but I learned a lot, in especial because we must to read too much in a few months.

I had seven subject, but the most tiring was History. The teacher in that class say that we have to read like fifty or seventy pages for week, and that waste our time for the others subject, but I think I learn more history in three month on the university that I learn in one year on school.

I took an artistic called "creative writing" and was fun in the beginning, but after the second month was boring and repetitive, also I took English three and is was fun in all the classes but I'm not sure if I learn something more that I already knows, but I think that was useful to practice and for don't forget those think I already know.

The most difficult in was answers the test because that was something new for me, in the school the most of the test was with alternatives but these are assay and more, so it was hard to get it.

To finish, about my personal business and can't say to much, all my time was waste in the university and reading.

Hello!, my name is Juan Gabriel and in this blog I'll post the things that I like or I don’t like, things weird or funny, maybe movies, music, can be anything.

I think that is good start talking about me, in first time I'm sociology’s student in the university and I’m on the second semester. I like music and movies a lot, also I like food and cook, and I hope I can show all of these things in this blog.
